The morning sun reaches the terrace before you do. You sit in the shade of an ancient sequoia; the lake lies just ahead, and the day can wait.

Each morning, the buffet is stocked with fresh, delicious treats: croissants and cakes, cheeses and cold cuts, seasonal fruit, yogurt, cereals, jams, and bread. And if you’re in the mood for something warm, we’ll prepare an omelet or eggs—cooked exactly how you like them—fresh to order.

No rush, no noise: just the tranquility of the park, a view over Lake Maggiore, and the warm hospitality of a family serving you breakfast as if you were a guest in their own home.

Stendhal Bistrot is the café at Casali della Cisterna—a tranquil retreat overlooking the stunning Lake Maggiore.

Our terrace is the perfect spot to take a break, enjoy an aperitif at sunset, or have a light meal, all while immersed in the peaceful setting of our historic park.

We offer exceptionally fresh products, carefully selected and thoughtfully prepared, with a focus on authenticity and high-quality ingredients.

Our menu features simple, delicious dishes—ideal for a casual lunch or a relaxed, unhurried dinner.

Among our specialties, you will find “Grandma-style” lasagne (also available in a vegetarian version), pizzas, fresh salads, charcuterie and cheese boards, and other appetizing options.

Every dish is crafted with the desire to deliver authentic flavors—uncomplicated and honest—by highlighting ingredients chosen with great care.
