Where we are: on Lake Maggiore, a step away from the Borromean Islands
We are in Belgirate, on the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore, a village renowned for its historic villas and its mild climate. Our residence, built in 1827, stands in a century-old park just thirty metres from the water: from every room the lake is the first thought of the morning and the last of the evening.
From here the lake is yours to discover. From the Belgirate pier, with Navigazione Lago Maggiore, you can reach the Borromean Gulf and the Borromean Islands: Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori. Stresa, with the cable car up to Mottarone, is five minutes away by car.

How to get to Belgirate
Getting to Casali della Cisterna is easy: by car, by train, by plane or by boat.
By car
Belgirate is on the Simplon road (SS33), between Arona and Stresa. Outdoor parking is free; covered spaces with electric charging are charged for and we recommend booking them.
By train
Belgirate station, on the Milan–Domodossola line, is a few minutes’ walk from the relais.
By plane
Milan Malpensa airport is about 40 minutes away by car. From there you can arrive by shuttle, to be booked in advance, or by train directly from the airport.
By boat
The Belgirate pier is served by Navigazione Lago Maggiore, with connections to Stresa and the Borromean Islands.
What to visit on Lake Maggiore: excursions from Belgirate
Casali della Cisterna is an excellent base for exploring Lake Maggiore and its surroundings: islands, gardens, nearby lakes, villages and mountains are all within easy reach in a day.
Stresa, Borromean Gulf, Borromean Islands and Mottarone
Five minutes by car: the Stresa lakefront, the boats to Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori, and the cable car to Mottarone.
Lake Orta and Lake Mergozzo
Two smaller, more secluded lakes, a short distance from Lake Maggiore, for a peaceful day out.
